Studies suggest it may also help improve heart health, lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation. I served the Foundation for many years on the marketing communications team. In 2024 I became the Foundation\u2019s executive director. In this new role, it has been my honor to form deeper relationships with all the donors and partners who make our work possible. I love learning about your connection to our cause, and what it is about our mission that resonates with you. It motivates me to continue striving for excellence, so that we may reach more people with our life-changing and lifesaving prevention, detection and treatment information. I\u2019m also grateful to the Foundation\u2019s Board of Directors for being so supportive during this transition, and our incredible staff. That led me to medical school, which led me to dermatologic surgery, where I performed 47,000 Mohs surgeries in 49 years of practice and taught my skills to others. I\u2019m also grateful for my 14 skin cancer scars and all the brilliant and caring dermatologists and Mohs surgeons who have sliced, diced, diagnosed and stitched me up. In fact, that was the theme of the 2024 edition of our annual magazine, <em>The Skin Cancer Foundation Journal<\/em>, and for good reason. We\u2019re all juggling work, family and the myriad other interests and obligations each of us embraces. I\u2019m thankful for the inspiring work the Foundation does every day. It\u2019s an honor to lead the charge. I\u2019m grateful for my husband and partner in our medical practice, Robert H. Gotkin, MD, who helps keep me grounded. And I\u2019ll give a special shoutout this year to my adorable baby grandson, who has brought infinite new love and joy into the holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Deborah S. Their selflessness and forgiveness inspires me to practice the same in my daily life, whether it is with my family or confronting skin cancer.
