We couldn\u2019t have done it without the generous support of our physician members, corporate partners and community of healthy skin champions. Read on for what we accomplished together!\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Providing 1400+ Free Skin Cancer Screenings in 24 Cities<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/blog\/category\/destination-healthy-skin\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Destination Healthy Skin<\/span><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"none\">mobile skin cancer screening and education program hit the road, ready to save some lives! During the journey, 51 volunteer dermatologists performed free skin cancer screenings in dozens of communities around the country. We witnessed some incredible stories and met some delightful people along the way!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">At our very first event in New York City, one of our participants, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/blog\/peters-story\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Peter Graylin<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, encountered the RV right outside his office building. He had been thinking of getting a spot on his calf checked out, and decided to get a screening. Jane Yoo, MD, our volunteer for the day immediately noticed the spot, and recommended he visit her practice for a biopsy right away. The biopsy confirmed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/melanoma\/the-stages-of-melanoma\/#stages\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">melanoma in situ<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> and Dr. Yoo performed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/melanoma\/melanoma-treatments\/#surgical\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">excisional surgery<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> to successfully remove the cancer.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In 2022, we were on the road for five months, screening 1,414 people and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/blog\/our-12000-mile-journey\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">covering a whopping 12,000 miles in our RV!<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> We hosted screening events in <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">24 cities<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> and our dermatologists detected <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">513 potential skin cancers<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, of which <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">33 <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">were <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">suspected melanomas<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Sponsorship support from CVS Pharmacy; EltaMD; DSM; Coolibar; EMD Serono and Pfizer; Genentech, a member of the Roche Group; an independent grant from Merck &amp; Co., Inc.; and The Lynne Waxman Foundation made our 2022 journey possible. Please consider <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/give.skincancer.org\/give\/274781\/#!\/donation\/checkout\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">supporting us in 2023.<\/span><\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Raising Crucial Funds at Our Annual Gala\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We were thrilled to be back at The Plaza in New York City for our annual <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/press\/the-skin-cancer-foundation-raises-625000-for-skin-cancer-education-programs-at-annual-champions-for-change-gala-in-new-york-city\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Champions for Change Gala,<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> our first in person event since 2019! With the help of our Gala fundraising committee, our individual donors and our corporate partners we raised <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">$625,000<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> in support of our educational campaigns, community programs and research initiatives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Among those who attended were Skin Cancer Foundation donors, industry and physician allies, celebrity supporters and members of the media. New York comedian Wali Collins emceed the event and kept guests laughing as he introduced the night\u2019s speakers and performers. The event recognized the generosity of our Destination Healthy Skin volunteer dermatologists, who collectively donated <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">1,000 hours<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> of their time over four years and performed nearly <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">5,000 skin cancer screenings!<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We thank our event sponsors DermTech, L\u2019Or\u00e9al Dermatological Beauty, Regeneron and Sanofi.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Taking Part in the Cancer Moonshot Initiative<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The goal of the White House <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/cancermoonshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cancer Moonshot<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> is to reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50 percent over the next 25 years, and improve the experience of people and families living with and surviving cancer. A member of The Skin Cancer Foundation team joined other non-government leaders in a Cancer Moonshot panel discussion about supporting patients and cancer early detection to better outcomes. The program also recognized the Foundation\u2019s screening efforts by adding us as a resource in their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/ostp\/news-updates\/2022\/12\/08\/fact-sheet-white-house-details-progress-from-the-cancer-cabinet-and-private-sector-during-cancer-moonshot-week-of-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">factsheet<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Translating Our Skin Cancer Information In 7 Languages<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Skin cancer is the most <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">common cancer<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> in the world. That\u2019s why our website content is now available in 7 languages (English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish). This accessibility enhancement enables more people to get the most accurate, medically reviewed skin cancer educational information available online, no matter where they are in the world. Since we added the translations, tens of thousands more people from outside the U.S. have been able to use our site to learn more about skin cancer and sun protection. That\u2019s a big deal!\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Publishing a New Skin Cancer Pictures Page<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8220;What does skin cancer look like?&#8221; is the number one search term people use to get to our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">website<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, SkinCancer.org. In response to this clear need for skin cancer images, the Foundation created a gallery including dozens of photos and published them on a new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-information\/skin-cancer-pictures\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Skin Cancer Pictures<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> page. When the page was published in May 2022, it quickly attracted thousands of daily visitors and has become the most popular page on SkinCancer.org.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Skin Cancer Pictures page is an important and sought-after resources, but it\u2019s important to note that while photos can be helpful, getting your skin <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/skincancer.org\/early-detection\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">examined by a dermatologist<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> remains the most vital step in identifying and treating skin cancer.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Airing Free Webinars to Educate People About Sun Protection Products<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In the fall of 2022, the Foundation conducted a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-prevention\/seal-of-recommendation\/#webinar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">three-part educational sun protection webinar series<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Each webinar featured a guest speaker from our Photobiology Committee who helped explain the importance of using sun protection products that have earned our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/skin-cancer-prevention\/seal-of-recommendation\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Seal of Recommendation<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skincancer.org\/about-us\/research-grants\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Research Grants program<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> has helped early career doctors and investigators with funding for studies that have led to lifesaving breakthroughs related to the prevention, detection and treatment of skin cancer. Our physician members help us address <a href=\"https:\/\/provider.skincancer.org\/membership\/our-members-in-the-media\/\">news storie<\/a>s and make sure we communicate accurate information to our audience. Year-round, our Marketing Communications team coordinates interviews with newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs, podcasts, radio stations and TV shows, resulting in widespread coverage.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Media relations is an important part of our education programming, and it enables us to get facts out to millions of people. In 2022 our dermatologist spokespersons were featured in dozens of local and national media outlets including AARP.com, Better Homes and Gardens, Chicago Tribune, IHeartMedia, Forbes Health, New York Magazine The Cut, New York Post, Prevention, The New York Times, Time.com and US News &amp; World Report.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Creating a Social Media<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Community for You<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">People follow us on social media because they want to connect with other skin cancer warriors, caregivers and healthy skin champions.
